To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Mr. Christopher Ienello. Mr. Ienello is currently a seventh grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at the South Lawrence East Middle School. I worked with Mr. Ienello from 2004-2009 as his principal. I have had the pleasure of supervising and evaluating his practice.
Mr. Ienello’s responsibilities as a seventh grade teacher reach beyond the ELA and SS class. He is the master Read 180 teacher in the district and has been nationally recognized for his efforts. In 2008, one of his students was named the National Read 180 All-Star. Mr. Ienello is a talented and caring teacher who understands the minds of Middle School students. He holds his students to the highest expectations while also nurturing their social and emotional needs. Mr. Ienello committed to his work in Lawrence when he could have taken a teaching position closer to his home in Foxboro. He is a loyal and trustworthy member of the faculty.
Beyond the school day, Mr. Ienello has been an integral member of the Extended Day staff. Over the years, he has taught in the After-School program and Summer School. He has been the Choral Coach, Soccer Coach, and an Intramural Coach. He has tutored students and worked in the Credit Recovery night school offered to High School students.
Time is something Mr. Ienello gives freely. He arrives at school before 7:00AM every day and is often the last to leave. Mr. Ienello offers assistance and support in order to better the lives and school experiences of his students. He goes above and beyond his responsibilities.
Mr. Ienello is a focused educator who provides opportunities for students to be successful. He is a valued member of the teaching staff and a popular teacher with his students. His departure will be a great loss to the Lawrence Public Schools. Your school system would do well to offer him a position and keep him forever. He has been an asset to the South Lawrence East Middle School and the entire Lawrence community. I hope you consider him for any vacancy you may have. He has my highest recommendation. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information.
Sincerely,
Dina N. Hickey

To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Christopher Ienello, a seventh grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at the South Lawrence East Middle School in Lawrence, MA. I had the pleasure of working on the same 7th grade team with Chris from 2004 until this past year when I transferred to a different district, and I can’t think of a more dedicated teacher than Chris.
Chris has been teaching English Language Arts, reading and social studies at the middle school level for the past eight years and brings a wealth of curricular and instructional knowledge into the classroom. He has participated in an extensive amount of professional learning throughout his career, and has also facilitated several workshops at the College Board forum.
While with the Lawrence Public Schools, Chris has served as a mentor for new staff, led the student chorus for three years, and served as JV soccer coach. Additionally, Chris has taught READ 180 to night school students for the past two years in the Pathways to Literacy Program. Chris makes himself available to students after school for tutoring and extended day instruction, and his students know he is always just an e-mail or phone call away for homework help. He works diligently to build relationships with his students, and I have seen many return to visit him from the high school, eager to share with him how well they are doing and thank him for his support during their middle school years.
Chris is well equipped to handle the demands of urban education, and works with an extremely demanding population of learners. With high rates of poverty, limited English proficiency, and special education students hovering at 30% of the population, it takes dedicated and highly skilled teacher to be effective at increasing student achievement. Chris is adept at finding ways to engage reluctant learners and holds students accountable for their work and their behavior.
I give Chris my highest recommendation, and he would be a strong asset to any school district. If you wish to discuss his candidacy any further, you can reach me at 781-259-9408 (ext. 1127), 978-764-1755, or at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Patricia McGonagle, MS. Ed.
